Facilities

Media Village can house 75 students and staff. Students and staff share accommodation. Every room has an en-suite bathroom. There are ample cupboards, but remember to pack lightly because a cramped space soon becomes an untidy space.

We have a classroom, several student lounges, TV and Games Room and best of all a great swimming pool for the hot Durbanville days. Media Village has a laundry facility and the washing machine operates on a token system.

Equipment

Media Village has a computer lab of 21 iMacs. Students train on FINAL CUT PRO for video and CS5 - PHOTOSHOP for Photography.

Video students use Sony PD150, 170 and 175 for training and student production, We have full kits of RED HEADS, Dedo lights , Seinheiser ME66 microphones are used for on location recording.

Radio Broadcasting school uses ERIDOL recorders for acquisition of sound. Photography school students have access to a studio with lighting kits and backdrops but are required to bring their own SLR cameras.

Cape Town is rated as one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Cape Town International airport is your destination when studying at Media Village. Our campus is approximately 20 minutes away from the airport. Media Village is situated 25 kms (15 miles) from the centre of Cape Town.

Our Community

Phisante Kraal, 20 min away, is the community that our students go to for outreach and prayer evangelism. We work in the clinic and the local schools. Phisante Kraal has many needs and we serve this community on a weekly basis throughout our DTS.

Video production students and photography students have often found the most encouraging and inspirational stories of hope while working and getting to know this comunity.

Accommodation

All accommodation is dorm style, with students sharing rooms. Most rooms have 4 people, but some dorms may have 6 people. Each room has its own en-suite bathroom.

Media Village has accommodation for married couples and families. No linen is required as Media Village provides bed linen, but students are required to bring a towel for swimming and bathing. Students are responsible to launder their bed linen.

Work Duties

All students are required to do 1 1/2hour to 2 hours of community service on the base Monday to Friday. This time of service is an integrated part of the curriculum and work duties are undertaken on all YWAM schools. Duties include kitchen cleanup, meal prep, maintenance and gardening. It is advisable to bring some old clothing.
