DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING SCHOOL (DTS)
Next school: 6th January 2009
DTS is the foundational course for YWAM and University of the Nations. It attracts people above 18 years from different nations with a heart to know God intimately and discover their purpose in Him. It is also for students who want to pursue a second level course under any chosen faculty of the University of the Nations.
The DTS may well be the pre-requisite for all second level courses of the University of the Nations, but it is much more than that. A DTS is a life-changing, fun experience where students have the opportunity to live in community and learn more about their God, themselves and their world.
At Media Village, DTS.com is an interactive three months course that follows the Youth With A Mission curriculum for DTS while exposing students to the realm of mass media and communication. Morning classes are creative, hands-on and very interactive. The afternoons are filled with character-building team exercises such as sanding doors, or painting balustrades. Once work duties are completed students can explore the created world of mountains, surf, sea, sand, sun and the windy experience of beach walking.
This course will equip students with a heart to discover more of whom God is, giving them a firm foundation of Character and an assurance of their identity in Christ. It is a school also for practical intercultural interaction, which encourages the rewarding positive attitudes in people skills for healthy relationships.
Outreach
Outreach is a time of immense growth. After 3 months of looking inward to who you are in God, and spending solid time in Him, outreach is the time given to practically outwork what you have gained during the three month lecture phase. In the past our outreaches have been focussed on Africa. Media Village has a passion for this beautiful continent and we believe in reaching the needs of those around us. Past DTS students have made trips into Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Namibia and many more.
Ethos
DTS has a very specific ethos. We strongly believe in the YWAM value of community living. And students are encouraged to live and work with each other - and through that - our character is tested.
Weekly Activities
- Outreach
Once a week students leave Media Village and go into local communities, where they express the love of Christ to the poor and the needy. - Prayer and Intercession
Every week is started with a communal time of prayer and intercession for the nations. All Media Village participate in this time. - Base Worship
