Shopping

There are a number of curio and antique shops in Kalk Bay. Our local superette, Hennies, will have any quick item you will need to get. Otherwise any other shopping can be done in a number of nearby malls and towns - all about 5-10 minutes drive.

Banking

If you are not from SA, travellers cheques are the safest form of currency. There are foreign exchange bureaus in Fish Hoek, 7 minutes drive from the base, and at the malls accessible by rail. Foreign currency can be exchanged at the airport on arrival, or at any bank.

Credit Cards, especially Visa and MasterCard are widely accepted. There are many Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) which can take Visa, Maestro, Plus or Cirrus in South Africa.

The nearest ATMs to us are in Kalk Bay (200m from the base). The banks will not cash personal cheques unless you have a bank account in South Africa.

Media Village accepts Dollars, Euros, Traveller's Cheques or Pounds Stirling.
